Police in Zimbabwe say they have arrested Pius Jamba, who allegedly killed Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) activist, Moreblessing Ali, whose mutilated body was retrieved from a disused well in Nyatsime, Beatrice, a few days ago.

In a tweet, police said, “The Zimbabwe Republic Police has arrested accused Pius Jamba this morning in connection with the callous murder of Moreblessing Ali. A detailed statement will be released during the course of the day.”

Police did not give any further details amid reports that Jamba handed himself to the police.

His arrest comes at a time when another CCC activist was allegedly killed by Zanu PF supporters in Chitungwiwa.

CCC spokesperson, Fadzayi Mahere, said in a tweet, “We are receiving disturbing reports that Champion Edison Chinembiri of Zengeza Main Branch was murdered by thugs on Tuesday night. We extend our sincere condolences to the Chinembiri family & call on @PoliceZimbabwe to investigate the matter thoroughly. Peace must prevail.”

Police spokesperson, Paul Nyathi, was unavailable for comment as he was not responding to calls on his mobile phone.

Meanwhile, Job Sikhala and lawmaker Godfrey Sithole are expected to appear in court today facing charges of inciting violence.
