Zimbabwe's Highlanders & Mwana Africa Move Up In African Contests

Zimbabwe football fans have much to celebrate after the progression by both Mwana Africa and Highlanders to the second round of their pan-African championships.

Mwana Africa beat Mundu Football Club of Zanzibar 3 -1 in preliminaries of the Africa CAF Confederation Cup at Rufaro Stadium in Harare on Sunday.

Highlanders advanced in the Africa Champions League after beating Pamplemousse of Mauritius 9-8 on penalty shots after the two teams deadlocked 1-1 on aggregate.

Highlander's Mkhuphali Masuku shot in the decider for Highlanders, who will now go on to confront Egypt’s Al Ahly in the second leg of the Champions League playoff.

Mwana Africa coach Willard Mashinkila-Khumalo told reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye of VOA's Studio 7 for Zimbabwe that he is looking forward to next month's first-round CAF Confederation encounter with Interclube of Angola.
