Zimbabwe Integrated Program Chairman Heneri Dzinotyiwei announced he was joining the faction of the Movement for Democratic Change led by MDC founding President Morgan Tsvangirai. The math professor and political analyst publicized his decision in a news conference at Harvest House, headquarters for the Tsvangirai faction.
Dzinotyiwei launched his organization in 1995 as a think tank, but briefly turned it into a political party in 1999 ahead of the 2000 general elections, reverting back to a research group in 2000.
While the chairman has aligned with the Tsvangirai faction, he said the integrated program will continue its work.
Blessing Zulu of VOA’s Studio 7 for Zimbabwe asked the University of Zimbabwe professor why he decided to throw in his political lot with Morgan Tsvangirai.
