Two women were shot dead and others robbed at gunpoint in the early hours of Thursday when armed assailants stormed a Copperbelt Bus travelling from Tshwane to Zimbabwe, according to South African police.

News24 quoted police spokesperson, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, as saying the suspects boarded the bus pretending to be passengers and one of them opened fire at Mantsole weighbridge, forcing the driver to pull over.

Mojapelo said, "The other suspects shot three women, instantly killing two and critically injuring the other."

He is quoted as saying the assailants then robbed all passengers of their belongings, including cash, mobile phones and passports.
