The leader of the opposition Front for Economic Emancipation in Zimbabwe, Godfrey Tsenengamu, says Nelson Chamisa lacks the political stamina to unseat Zanu PF.

According to NewZimbabwe.com, Tsenengamu made these remarks Tuesday in Harare where he addressed journalists, a few months after he endorsed Chamisa as the best person capable of beating Zanu PF’s Emmerson Mnangagwa in the 2023 presidential election.

He is quoted as saying, ““We believe in confronting the problem whatever it is and we are so much convinced that under the leadership of Advocate Nelson Chamisa if we were to work with him under the CCC we were not going to achieve what we intended to achieve. Yes, we admit they are a very strong movement, Chamisa is very likeable, very popular and a good public speaker, but we think that he is weak somehow, he is ineffective.

“The situation that Zimbabwe finds itself in, does not require a leadership that thinks Zanu PF is going to be removed through prayers and tweeting, Zanu PF is a beast that has to be confronted head on, Zimbabwe requires a movement that can square up to Zanu PF blow by blow.”

Tsenengamu, who is a former leader of the Zanu PF Youth League, attacked Chamisa for not taking action over the holding in remand prison of members of the CCC, including lawmakers Job Sikhala and Godfrey Sithole over allegations of inciting violence and attempting to defeat the course of justice.

CCC spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere was unreachable for comment.
