The Grain Millers Association of Zimbabwe (GMAZ) has increased mealie-meal prices by 15% citing the Russia/Ukraine war, which has resulted in steep fuel and maize costs.

In a statement, GMAZ said the maize prices may go higher due to supply chain problems and the raging war.

GMAZ said, “Maize meal retail price for a 10kg Roller Meal will increase by 15 percent from ZWL$599 to ZWL1,099. Bread flour will move up by 14,74 percent from ZWL119,000 to ZWL$136,544 per metric tonne.”

The GMAZ further noted that the price of wheat has gone up from US475 to US$675. As a result, bread prices are expected to rise by Friday.

The state-controlled Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) on Tuesday announced high diesel and petrol price increases, citing the Russia/Ukraine war.
