A Zimbabwean currently in the USA under a program catering for the needs of communities, Patience Malaba of Harbakuk Trust, says she hopes to derive concrete ideas of community empowerment, which will be used to transform communities back home.
Malaba, who is attached to One America, an organization looking into issues affecting immigrants, is expected to complete a four-month stint in Washington DC being impacted with various community engagement skills.
The Community Solutions Program (CSP) is run by the International Research and Exchanges Board (IREX) on behalf of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State.
The CSP is a professional development program for the best and brightest global community leaders working in Transparency and Accountability, Tolerance and Conflict Resolution, Environmental Issues, and Women and Gender Issues.
The goal of CSP is for global community leaders to improve their capacity for local community development and serve as ambassadors for increased mutual understanding.
CSP leaders build and strengthen sustainable professional networks with international colleagues and institutions, increase their understanding of strategies to address challenges in their community and strengthen their management, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
