Deputy Agriculture Minister Moyo Laid to Rest

Veteran politician and Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) party member, Seiso Moyo, who passed away on Friday, was laid to rest Monday at Lady Stanley Cemetery in Bulawayo.

The late deputy minister of agriculture and Member of Parliament for Nketa constituency died of an apparent heart attack.

Addressing mourners, Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai described the late deputy minister as a humble and selfless person who managed to bring together people from all walks of life.

Mr. Tsvangirai said members of parliament and other leaders work hard and have little time to rest, but urged them to have medical checkups at least once a year.

Also present at the burial were senior Zanu PF politicians, including Umguza lawmaker Obert Mpofu, Small Enterprises Minister Sithembiso Nyoni and Mwenezi MP Kudakwashe Basikiti, and others.

The late Moyo, who was also the secretary for elections in the MDC, was 56 years old and left behind a wife and 5 children.

MDC-T spokesman Douglas Mwonzora said Moyo was laid to rest near the grave of soccer legend, Adam Ndlovu, who died a week ago.

Nhlanhla Dube, spokesman for the MDC formation of Industry and Commerce Minister Welshman Ncube also witnessed Moyo’s burial.

Dube said the though two parties may have different ideologies, they share the same political fields and social circles.

Zanu PF spokesman Rugare Gumbo said his party is happy that some of his colleagues in Bulawayo attended the funeral of the deputy minister.
