Zimbabweans in New York, America, are expected to hold a family day next Saturday aimed at bringing together families to share ideas on the situation back home and engage in social activities.

One of the event organisers, Chaka Ngwenya, said the event will feature different games and music. There will be plenty of free traditional food that will be provided by the organisers of the event to promote the spirit of giving and togetherness.

Ngwenya said the event has generated a lot of interest from Zimbabweans living in New York and other states.

"We are hoping to get together as Zimbabweans and teach our children some of them born here about our country and our culture through signing in our own language and playing some of our traditional instruments like mbira and ngoma," says Ngwenya.

"We hope that most of our Zimbabwean sisters and brothers from different backgrounds, political affiliations will put this aside and come together as one so that we can share our traditional foods and network. This will be an opportunity to distress from all the stressful situations faced in the diaspora," said Ngwenya.
