No Marriage Chance for Bulawayo Bachelors, Spinsters

  • Chris Gande
Bad news for single people in Bulawayo as the national census body, the Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (Zimstats) says most bachelors and spinsters in the city don’t get married.

The just-released Zimstats final census report indicates that 40 percent of marriageable people have never tied the knot in Bulawayo.

The report shows that Mashonaland Central province has the largest number of married people followed by Mashonaland West, Mashonaland East and Manicaland.

Matabeleland South comes second behind Bulawayo with 36 percent admitting that they have never been married while Harare and Matabeleland North come third and fourth respectively.

Gender activist Sibusisiwe Bhebhe says the census report on marriages is questionable.
