Ray of Hope as Activists Push for More Women Office Bearers
WASHINGTON DC —
With just three days to go before the Zimbabwe's general elction, some activists are optimistic that women voters will this time around support more women to get into office.
The women's movement in Zimbabwe has for the past few weeks been pushing the electorate to put more women into political office.
VOA’s Sandra Nyaira speaks with women’s activist Sally Dura on the Women’s Forum about Wednesday’s national election in which voters choose the country’s next leaders to replace the unity government that brought President Robert Mugabe and bitter rival, Morgan Tsvangirai, together in an uneasy coalition.
Dura urges Zimbabwean women to go out in large numbers and support women from all political parties.
