Zimbabwe national cricket team coach, Steve Mangongo, is talking tough ahead of Zimbabwe’s first test against Bangladesh on Wednesday.

Mangongo has declared he is not going to field the same old players who have failed in the past, saying he is bringing in fresh cricketers in the two tests and the three one day internationals against Bangladesh.

The caretaker coach said some of the players have failed to justify their places in the national team, adding that he is looking wide for selection.

Mangongo said he was disappointed by the players’ performance in the last Zimbabwean tour to the West Indies.

Unlike in the past when players were picked on their past performance, Mangongo said cricketers have to sweat for their places.

The seasoned coach, who has been the national team assistant coach for a long time, is standing in for newly appointed national coach Andy Waller, who will only be able to take up his new job in July when Zimbabwe plays India.

Zimbabwe and Bangladesh square off at Harare Sports Club in two tests, the first of which runs from Wednesday to Sunday. The second starts on April 25 and ends on April 29.
