A company in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, that operates a bunjee jump for tourists says it has replaced old equipment following a New Year's accident in which a woman fell 111 meters into the crocodile-infested Zambezi river but escaped serious injury.
Video of the incident has gone viral on the Internet showing Australian tourist Erin Langworthy falling into the river, her feet still tied together.
Mike Davies, operator of Victoria Falls Bunjee, confirmed the incident and said the broken cord has been sent to South Africa to determine why it failed.
He praised Langworthy’s bravery and survival skills.
Davies told VOA reporter Sithandekile Mhlanga that the incident was isolated as more than 150,000 people have engaged bunjee-jumped with the company in the past 17 years.
