The government Thursday started rolling out a vaccination program targeted at children under the age of five and meant to curb cases of diarrhea which the government says are on the rise, especially in winter.

Director of epidemiology and disease control in the ministry of health, Dr. Portia Manangazira says the dose is in two phases: The first dose of rotavirus vaccine is administered at six weeks, and the second at 10 weeks, through two doses in the mouth.
Manangazira tells reporter Sithandekile Mhlanga the program complements the existing immunization program for children under the age of five.
