Opposition Movement for Democratic Change founding president Morgan Tsvangirai says President Robert Mugabe is to blame for Zimbabwe’s faulting economy.

Tsvangirai says Mr. Mugabe’s failure to address the deteriorating economic situation has resulted in the cash-strapped government failing to pay its workers and pensioners.

Government has only paid the army, police and state security agents and it’s not clear when the rest of the civil service will be paid. Efforts to get a comment from Labour Minister Prisca Mupfumira or President Mugabe’s spokesperson George Charamba were not successful as their mobile phones went unanswered.

In this final exclusive interview with Studio 7’s Blessing Zulu, Tsvangirai said the government is failing to even attract foreign direct investment due to policy inconsistencies and infighting in the ruling Zanu-PF party to succeed Mr. Mugabe.

Civil servants say they have tried in vain to meet Mupfumira to clear the air on salaries and bonuses.
