Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) founding president Morgan Tsvangirai conveyed his condolences Tuesday to the Bloch family, describing the late Eric Bloch as a “conscientious fellow” whose economic “analyses reflected a deep and passionate love for his country.”
Bloch, a renowned economic pundit who advised several entities, including the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, died at his Bulawayo home on Saturday.
"He was always concerned with the issue of how our country's economy could improve," Tsvangirai said in a statement.
"He was always passionate about the measures, both political and economic, that we should take as a nation to enable Zimbabweans to pursue a life of happiness and stability."
Bloch will be laid to rest Wednesday morning at Athlone Cemetery in the country's second largest city, Bulawayo.
He is one of the analysts who featured prominently on Studio 7 since its inception in 2003.
It is his deep and often unbiased commentary that earned him respect from both sides of the deeply-divided political spectrum.
Tsvangirai MDC lawmaker, Abednico Bhebhe, told VOA the passing of Bloch is a blow to the country, adding he was undoubtedly a national hero.
