The national executive of the Movement for Democratic Change of former Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai is expected to meet Friday for the first time this year to discuss what sources said are crucial issues bedeviling the party.

The sources said top of the agenda is a controversial letter written by vice treasurer Elton Mangoma to the party’s president urging him to step down after successively failing to unseat President Robert Mugabe and his Zanu PF party.

But spokesman Douglas Mwonzora played down the Mangoma issue saying it was fully discussed at the party’s Standing Committee meeting last week.

Mwonzora said Friday’s meeting will focus on the adoption of the party’s strategy in 2014 and beyond, among other issues.
