Zanu-PF has unveiled an economic blue print, the Zimbabwe Agenda for Socio-Economic Transformation (ZIMASET), which it says will set the tone for the new government’s quest for revamping industry and commerce.

Party spokesman Rugare Gumbo said the blue print was crafted on the basis of his party’s election manifesto and speeches made by President Robert Mugabe on inauguration day.

Gumbo said it also embraces the ideals and values of the party. In its manifesto, Zanu-PF promised to create about two million jobs in five years, among other issues.

Gumbo said the blue print seeks to restore investor confidence and will be launched soon.

But MDC-T spokesman Douglas Mwonzora criticised the Zanu-PF blue print saying it will do little if anything to change the economic situation in Zimbabwe.

Mwonzora said Zanu-PF has failed to transform the economy during the past 33 years and will not succeed in doing so in just five years.
