Former U.S. Ambassador to Zimbabwe Johnnie Carson described the resignation by Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe as "an important milestone in Zimbabwe's history. Carson served as ambassador to Zimbabwe in the 1990s. He described Mr. Mugabe as determined, articulate and disciplined.
