Dynamos Shifts Home Ground To National Sports Stadium to Defray CAF Costs

Dynamos beat FC Saint Lupopo of Congo 1-0 a second round, second leg match in the Confederation of African Football Champions League

Zimbabwe's Dynamos Football Club has changed its home field from Rufaro Stadium, Harare, to National Sports Stadium, also in the capital, seeking to reduce the 20 percent of gate fees taken by the city.

National Stadium is controlled by the government, which takes less of the gate in order to encourage local sports teams, team officials said.

Dynamos beat FC Saint Lupopo of Congo 1-0 with the lone goal scored by former Njube Sundowns midfielder Thabani Kamusoko to wrap up a second round, second leg match in the Confederation of African Football Champions League before some 25,000 fans.

Dynamos Coach Elvis “Chuchu” Chiweshe said that the Harare City Council had been draining revenues that his club needed to develop and strengthen, particularly as it makes its way through the Champions League.

Dynamos next plays Botswana’s Gaborone United.

Chiweshe tells VOA Studio 7 reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye that the move will help his club meet the high cost of seeking the Champions League title.
