Journalist Itai Dzamara and human rights lawyer Kennedy Masiye spent a second night at the Avenues Clinic on Friday after they were severely assaulted by Harare police.
Button-wielding officers attacked Dzamara during a sit-down protest against President Robert Mugabe’s rule at Africa Unity Square and lashed out at Masiye when he came for his client.
Dzamara, who passed out twice after the assault told VOA a scan to determine whether he had sustained internal injuries had turned out negative.
He said although he was still in excruciating pain, he was excited about the result.
Also speaking from hospital, Masiye, who sustained a broken arm said he was in great pain. He was scanned for internal injuries on Friday.
Masiye, who works with the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, said he was considering legal action against the police.
