Zimbabwe Cricket Squad Loses To Sri Lanka by 14 Runs in Twenty20 Tourney

Zimbabwean cricket enthusiasts had hoped for better from the home team after it bested Australia and Pakistan in preparatory matches

Zimbabwe's national cricket team lost to Sri Lanka by 14 runs Monday in the first match of the 2010 ICC Twenty20 tournament in Guyana played today.

Zimbabwean cricket enthusiasts had hoped the home team would triumph following impressive performances in preparatory matches in which it bested Australia and Pakistan.

Sri Lanka batted first and put up 173 runs which Zimbabwe fell short of matching by 14 runs in a rain-interrupted match.

Cricket commentator Hartwell Tshuma told VOA Studio 7 reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye that the Zimbabwean team may yet achieve some upsets in the tournament.
