The Warriors of Zimbabwe raised the spirits of suffering Zimbabweans after clinching a record fifth COSAFA Castle Cup title with a convincing 3-1 victory over old foes Chipolopolo of Zambia at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in South Africa.
About 5,000 Zimbabweans living in South Africa were at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium to watch the Warriors play while others watched the game on television back at home as Knox Mutizwa, Ocean Mushure and Talent Chawapihwa secured victory and the title for the Warriors.
The victory gave the Warriors a fifth COSAFA Cup championship, one more than Angola, South Africa, and Zambia who have four titles each.
Success at the 14-team competition also gave the Zimbabwean team 500,000 South African rands while Zambia took home 200,000 rands for reaching the final.
Chipolopolo have won the cup four times.
