Zimbabweans Mourning Death of 7 Dynamos Fans

The Zimbabwe football family is mourning the death of seven Dynamos fans who were killed in a traffic road accident on their way to watch their team in action in the Midlands.

The seven Dynamos supporters died before they could even watch their team win 2-1 away to Chapungu after a tragic accident Saturday morningnear Battlefields in Kwekwe. Thirteen other fans were seriously when the vehicle they were travelling burst a tyre, veered off the road and overturned.

National Football Association of Zimbabwe president Phillip Chiyangwa and Dynamos president Kenny Mubaiwa visited the scene of the accident and the injured, who included the mother of Dynamos striker Kim Sasama, in hospital.

Ironically, Sasama scored the goal that gave Dynamos the win and the maximum three points.

Chiyangwa took his time to pay the ambulance fees to have all the injured transferred from Kadoma General Hospital to Parirenyatwa Hospital in Harare.

The NFAZ president says this is a big loss not to only to Dynamos but to Zimbabwean football as the same Dynamos supporters alsorallied behind the Zimbabwe national teams.

Mubaiwa added that this was a great loss to the club as it came at a time when they needed more crowd support since their team is notplaying well.

Caps United president Farai Jere has pledged the Green Machine will assist Dynamos in the best way they can during these trying times.

Dembare paid tribute to their departed fans with that 2-1 win that has seen the team move to ninth on the league table up from 12th with 11th points from nine matches.

There was also tragedy at FC Platinum but this time on the field of play after Kugona Kunenge Kudada were beaten 2-1n at home by Sunday Chidzambwa’s ZPC Kariba.

The miners, however, stayed top of the table after Caps United stuttered to a goalless draw against Triangle which leaves them a point behind the leaders.

While Caps United coach Lloyd Chitembwe was mourning over too many missed chances, Triangle coach David Mandigora was smiling all the way to the Midlands town after picking up a vital point away from home.

Mandigora even went on to say his aim is to win the league title this season saying he is happy that is picking up the most important points away at big teams and winning all their home games.

However, as things stand right, it is Highlanders who were inactive over the weekend, who have the chance to go on top of the table should they win their outstanding fixture.
