State workers took to the streets of Harare on Friday accusing government supervisors of threatening to fire workers on strike instead of addressing salary demands.
The protest followed the collapse of talks between government and negotiators for state workers demanding a rise in minimum salaries from US$253 to US$538 dollars a month.
Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe Bulawayo Coordinator Vusumuzi Mahlangu told reporter Sithandekile Mhlanga that most civil servants in urban and rural areas are on strike with the exception of those working in the Home Affairs Ministry.
