The Zimbabwe Warriors national soccer team will launch 2010 with a friendly match against Syria on Saturday in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur, following a 3-0 victory over hosts Malaysia in a friendly on Thursday.

The Warriors are using the friendly matches to prepare for the Confederation of African Football Cup of Nations featuring only locally based players, which starts later this month. The Warriors will get into the competition in March as CAF gave the team a bye relieving it of preliminary-round engagements.

Zimbabwe Football Association Competitions Manager Jonathan Musavengana told VOA Studio 7 reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye that Warriors Captain Method Mwajali may sit out the game due to an injury.
