Some civil servants say the government has deposited bonuses into their bank accounts though they are currently failing to withdraw the money.

Richard Gundani, chairman of the civil servants’ negotiating arm, the Apex Council, could not shed light on these deposits saying he needed to consult relevant authorities before making any public statements.

But an irate Raymond Majongwe of the Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe said PTUZ members are not happy that they are not accessing their funds.

New Labour Minister Priscah Mupfumira recently announced that the government will stagger the payment of bonuses with some of the civil servants getting it this month while the rest are set to recieve their share in January, 2015.

But Majongwe said they feel that the government just wanted to hoodwink them into believing that it has honoured its promise yet it does not have the money.
