The Movement for Democratic Change led by former Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai is threatening to derail the presentation of the 2015 national budget set to be presented in parliament this month following parliament’s failure to conduct public consultations as prescribed in Zimbabwe’s constitution.
Parliamentary Budget Committee member, Dorcas Sibanda, said Zimbabweans are supposed to express their views on the proposed budget before it is presented to parliament.
Sibanda said parliament has already indicated that it has shelved the consultations process due to lack of funds.
She told VOA Studio 7 this is a recipe for conflict in parliament as her party will not accept the budget to be presented by Finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa.
Zanu PF deputy information director, Psychology Maziwisa, said these threats are unproductive.
