Zimbabwe's Lengthens Club in CAF Fundraisers With Gunners, Dynamos


Lengthens Football Club is playing in the Confederation of African Football's Confederation Cup while Gunners and Dynamos have qualified for the CAF Champions League

Four teams in Zimbabwe's Premier Soccer League will showcase new talent in friendly matches this weekend at Rufaro Stadium, Harare, aiming to generate funding for teams contending this year in regional African tournaments.

The teams include Lengthens, Caps United, Gunners and Dynamos.

Lengthens Football Club is playing in the Confederation of African Football's Confederation Cup while Gunners and Dynamos have qualified for the CAF Champions League.

Lengthens President Beadle Gwasira told VOA Studio 7's Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye that his team has take six new players aboard.

Lengthens is scheduled to play AS Adema of Madagascar on the weekend of February 13-14 at Rufaro Stadium in Harare.

The team earned the slot in the CAF Confederation Cup after winning the local BancABC Cup last year. Lengthens is said to be hoping to secure the services of three Ghanaian players who are currently training with the team.

Lengthens, known as the "Happy People," has signed goalkeeper Lovemore Makwavarara, formerly of the Douglas Warriors, a First Division team, as well as midfielder Tawanda Mparati, Raphael Manwere and striker Admire Dzikamanja, team sources said.
