WASHINGTON DC —
Former Saint Mary’s legislator, Job Sikhala, of the Movement for Democratic Change formation led by Morgan Tsvangirai, who was arrested Thursday on allegations of colluding with some Zanu PF officials in a plot to allegedly assassinate President Robert Mugabe, was released early Friday from police custody after more than 16 hours of interrogations,
No charges were, however, preferred against the outspoken lawmaker.
Sikhala says after being released, he later received a telephone call informing him to surrender himself to the police in Harare.
Police say they have an audio recording of the alleged plot in which Sikhala is being implicated.
Sikhala says the police also produced a copy of the state-run Sunday Mail newspaper as evidence against him.
