Zimbabwe Peace Project Director Jestina Mukoko, abducted in late 2008 and later prosecuted for allegedly conspiring to overthrow the government, was to be honored Wednesday in Washington with one of 10 International Women Of Courage awards by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
The U.S. State Department gives the awards to women who have demonstrated exceptional courage and leadership in advancing women's rights.
In an interview, Mukoko told VOA Studio 7 reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye that she is honored by the award and will continue human rights activism despite her harrowing personal experiences.
