Will Prof Ncube's MDC Seek Hero Status for Late Dulini Ncube?

Fletcher Dulini Ncube of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) formation led by Professor Welshman Ncube, who died in Bulawayo on Thursday, is expected to be laid to rest sometime next week.

Party spokesman Nhlanhla Dube told VOA Studio 7 the funeral has been delayed as one of his sons living overseas is scheduled to arrive in Zimbabwe on Monday.

Dube said the MDC Standing Committee is set to meet Saturday to deliberate on Dulini Ncube’s death and other issues.

The party is skeptical about seeking a hero status for the late former PF ZAPU cadre, who was arrested in 2002 for allegedly killing war veteran Cain Nkala.

He was acquitted but lost his eye claiming that he was denied medication for diabetes while under police custody.

Dube said the late MDC-N chairman of the Council of Elders died a national hero.
