Zimbabwean cleric, Pastor Evan Mawarire, who was arrested Tuesday morning, is facing charges of inciting public violence. Pastor Mawarire, one of the champions of last week’s mass stay away that shutdown Zimbabwe for a day, has been lobbying citizens to defy government intimidation and stay home on Wednesday and Thursday.

The French ambassador to Zimbabwe has dismissed as ridiculous claims by the Zimbabwean government that the country is backing Zimbabwe’s social unrest following a mass stay away last week organized by arrested Pastor Evan Mawarire, Tajamuka-Sesijikile Campaign and others.

And the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights earlier today visited Burombo Flats in Bulawayo's Nguboyenja high density suburb to investigate police brutality against civilians in the wake of last week's protests. This is the place where a child died after allegedly inhaling teargas which police used to flush out suspected protesters.
