Former coach Moses “Bambo” Chunga of Zimbabwe's Gunners Football Club confirmed Tuesday that he has joined Shooting Stars and aims to take his new club to the Premier League pinnacle like he did with Gunners in 2009.
Chunga last week parted ways with Gunners, which he led to the premiership title last season ahead of favorites Dynamos who were runners-up. Gunners will thus contest the Confederation of African Football Champions League this year without the benefit of Chunga's leadership.
Shooting Stars President Joel Sengerodo confirmed Chunga's appointment saying the new coach would choose his own assistants to work with.
“He is the new head coach. We have reached an agreement and he started work Monday morning," Sengerodo told VOA.
Chunga told VOA's Studio7 reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye that he has no hard feelings toward Gunners management and wishes the club the best of luck in the CAF Champions League tournament.
