A Zimbabwean woman, who lived in the United States for 17 years is now back home where she is running a business.

Ms. Busi Mhlanga says she decided to go back home after setting up an organization called Building Opportunities on Student Talent Fellowship, or BOOST, to help prepare school leavers for opportunities and challenges beyond the classroom.

“I think anyone who is from Zimbabwe will understand that home is home, diaspora is diaspora. These are two different things,” says Ms. Mhlanga.

Ms. Mhlanga, who was based in the state of Pennsylvania, says a calling will come at some point in one’s life and their journey to return home.

“We had started our own family, we wanted our children to grow up the way we grew up in our tradition and with our values and exposed to the culture that we were exposed to,” she adds.

She says they train the youths in skills they need and also sometimes link them with other organizations that are helping and also run programs that involve incubation of businesses.
