Several organizations in Zimbabwe are planning to stage protests against the proposed introduction of bond notes in the country.

According to members of Tajamuka-Sesijikile Campaign and the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions, the protests will be staged in Harare, Gweru, Bulawayo, Mutare, Kwekwe, Chinhoyi and other cities and towns.

Indications are that there is already heavy police presence in Bulawayo ahead of the protests.

Thousands of Zimbabweans are expected to join the protests Friday to register their dismay over bond notes, designed to boost exports in the country.

Some Zimbabweans are currently camping outside banks due to serious cash shortages. Clients are getting as little as $20 per day as a result of the crippling shortages of the U.S dollar.
