The Zimbabwe Football Association Board was to meet Thursday evening in extraordinary session after the refusal by national immigration authorities to grant a work permit to deported Warriors coach Belgian Tom Saintfiet.
Since his detention in the midst of a practice and deportation last month, Saintfiet had been waiting in a neighboring country hoping to resume work. But this week he was denied a visa under the 1998 Immigration Act.
The precise grounds on which he was denied a visa remained unclear.
Observers saw the refusal to grant a work permit as a slap in the face for ZIFA, already under pressure for the so-called Asiagate match-fixing scandal that has dogged the national team since 2009.
ZIFA Board Member Benedict Moyo told VOA Studio 7 Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye that the organization will decide at the Thursday evening meeting how to proceed following Saintfiet's unsuccessful visa application.
