Zanu PF youth secretary for legal affairs, Tongai Kasukuwere, is appealing to the senior echelons of the ruling party to address election irregularities that marred the youth conference at the weekend.
Kasukuwere says he will use party channels to highlight his serious concern with the manner in which the party’s youth polls were conducted.
He lost the election to Kudzai Chipanga for the top and influential position of deputy youth secretary.
President Robert Mugabe admitted that the youth conference was marred by factionalism, vote buying and inept organization.
Party chairman Simon Khaya Moyo, as a result, has called for a meeting Wednesday at the Zanu PF headquarters in Harare, to address the chaos that marred the youth conference.
The youth league and the women’s league annual conferences are seen by many as a harbinger of things to follow at the party’s elective December congress.
The women’s meeting is scheduled for next week.
Kasukuwere says he’s confidence the party has the capacity to handle his issue.
