The MDC-T had to whisk him away to safety before he could interact with all vendors.

As part of his countrywide “Meet-the-People-Tour,” Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) founding president Morgan Tsvangirai onWednesday toured Bulawayo City Council initiated projects, where he said rampant company closures and unemployment in the city warranted hard work by the local authority to attract investors.

Tsvangirai, who was welcomed at the council chambers by 21 out of the city’s 29 councillors, commended the local authority’s water, housing, and road projects.

The party’s organizing secretary Abednico Bhebhe said the MDC-T leader, who received a hero’s welcome in the streets of Bulawayo, is expected to attend various meetings with party members Thursday and Friday.

He is expected to wind up his visit Saturday with a belated Women’s Day celebrations at Stanley Square in the city.

Bhebhe said there was a stampede to welcome Tsvangirai in the city, and his party had to whisk him away to safety before he could interact with all vendors.
