Samuel Siphepha Nkomo says the government should engage his party and other stakeholders so it can receive various ideas on how to resuscitate the economy
The Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) formation which calls itself the renewal team Wednesday expressed concern at the continued deterioration of the economic situation in the country, and called on the Zanu PF-led government to admit it has failed to resuscitate the economy.
Addressing journalists in Harare, the chairman of the so-called renewal team, Samuel Siphepha Nkomo, said the government should engage his party and other stakeholders so it can receive various ideas on how to resuscitate the economy.
The renewal team also congratulated the African National Congress of South Africa for its victory in elections held last week, and urged the Zimbabwean government to follow the neighboring country’s example on holding peaceful elections.
Siphepha-Nkomo further said his party expressed solidarity with the international community on the issue of more than 200 school girls, who were kidnapped by an Islamic extremist Nigerian group, Boko Haram.
On the same day, MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai met parliamentary candidates, who participated in the last elections at the party’s headquarters in Harare, where they discussed developments within the party, and strategized on how to change the political and economic climate.
