Higher Education Minister Jonathan Moyo on Wednesday handed over himself to the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) following claims that he abused funds belonging to the state-controlled Zimbabwe Manpower Development Fund (ZIMDEF)

According to The Herald, NewsDay and several Zimbabwean publications, Professor Moyo handed himself for questioning over more than $400,000.

The state claims that the funds were supposed to be for students at tertiary institutions.

There was no immediate response from ZACC officials and police about Professor Moyo’s fate.

The minister was also unavailable for comment.

Moyo claimed that he used the ZIMDEF funds for financing Zanu PF projects and purchasing bicycles for traditional leaders in Tsholotsho, Matabeleland North province.

Some Zimbabweans have been demanding his arrest saying he has a case to answer.
