Premier Soccer League Title Race Takes New Twist

The Castle Lager Premier Soccer league title race has assumed new dimensions with Dynamos now back in contention after the two leading teams, Chicken Inn and FC Platinum, stuttered to draws in midweek matches.

Dynamos are now only two points behind second placed FC Platinum and four points behind overall leaders Chicken Inn. Should they win their game against Chapungu, and FC Platinum lose, Dembare will move into second position.

Dynamos supporter Tichaona Mukerezi says it is not over until it is over.

“I don’t doubt Dynamos, we can drop points near the touch line but we can win in the end,” said Mukerezi.

However, soccer analyst Farai Manunure thinks this weekend’s games will decide who will take the league title.

“ The games are quite very interesting and very tricky in the sense there are things that you don’t want to miss – some are fighting relegation and some are fighting in the top four with three teams fighting for the championship – all in contention,” said Manunure.

The games lined up for the weekend are as follows:

FC Platinum vs Caps United.
Dynamos vs Chapungu
Harare City vs Chicken Inn.
ZPC Kariba vs Hwange
How Mine vs Dongo
Whawah vs Flame Lilly
Triangle vs Buffaloes

Manunure thinks the Dynamos era is over, adding he's pretty sure it will go to Chicken Inn.

"Chicken Inn only needs to win their match against Harare City and I can see them doing so," said Manunure.

The Premier Soccer League has devised their fixtures to make sure they are concluded before December 5 when the Castle Soccer Star of the Year selection is to be held.

Ironically, it is the same day when the Zifa presidential elections are to be held.
