WASHINGTON DC —
A house belonging to losing candidate for Uzumba, Peckson Kazingizi of the Movement for Democratic Change formaiton of former Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, was recently attacked by suspected Zanu-PF supporters.
MDC-T member Edson Zungunde said they suspect Zanu-PF members to be behind the attack because of previous threats made against these activists.
Zungunde said property including clothes and furniture was destroyed and looted. The incident was reported at Nhakiwa Police Post but no arrests have been made so far, Zungunde added.
Studio 7 could not reach the police or Zanu-PF members in the area for a comment.
There were reports recently that Zanu-PF activists in the area were forcing MDC members to surrender their party regalia and membership cards.
Those who refused were allegedly denied access to food and agricultural inputs.
Zanu-PF Uzumba Member of Parliament Simbaneuta Mudarikwa recently called for political tolerance in the area but isolated cases of violence still resurface.
