Police in South Africa are said to be investigating the death of Zanele Moyo (20), the daughter of Higher Education Minister Professor Jonathan Moyo, who was found unresponsive in her Cape Town apartment a few days ago.

According to the state-controlled Chronicle newspaper, police have opened an inquest docket following reports that two unidentified people could have been the last to interact with the late Cape Town University student on Wednesday.

The newspaper quotes police spokesman F.C. van Wyk as saying a post-mortem is being conducted, which will likely determine the cause of her death.

Studio 7 could not reach police in South Africa to confirm this development.

Indications are that her body will be repatriated to Zimbabwe for burial before the end of this week.

The newspaper further reports that Professor Moyo is in South Africa where he is accompanied by some relatives, lawyer Terrence Hussein and businessman Phillip Chiyangwa.

The late Zanele was studying political science, international relations and gender issues.
