WASHINGTON DC —
A war of words has erupted between former Prime Minister and Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) leader Morgan Tsvangirai and Masvingo Provincial Affairs Minister Kudakwashe Bhasikiti over plans by Tsvangirai to visit Tokwe Mukosi flood victims at Chingwizi holding camp in the province.
Mr. Tsvangirai’s office says he was due to visit the more than 3,000 families this week and contribute towards the humanitarian crisis.
But the party is alleging that Bhasikiti told the MDC leader’s emissaries that Tsvangirai would not be allowed to interact with the people at Chingwizi.
Bhasikiti is said to have told Tsvangirai that if he had anything to give the people, he should do it through the government’s provincial offices in Masvingo which in turn will deliver the goods to the beneficiaries.
Blessing Zulu speaks with Tsvangirai’s spokesperson Luke Tamborinyoka about the issue.
Bhasikiti though tells Studio 7 that Tsvangirai was never barred from traveling to Chingwizi.
