Highlanders Football Club players on Thursday boycotted training sessions demanding payment of outstanding winning allowances.
Club chairman Peter Dube, who declined to reveal figures, said the team owes the players a substantial amount of money.
He said they are trying to raise the money while focusing on winning their remaining games as the team is fighting for the top spot on the castle lager premier soccer league table.
“We are trying by all means to pay these winning bonuses though we have some serious financial challenges,” said Dube.
The club pays the players’ bonuses and salaries are taken care of by the principal sponsor, BanABC.
According to senior players at Bosso, the club owes them winning bonuses for their wins against Shabanie Mine, Hwange and Black Mambas.
Dynamos are currently on top of the log with 58 points, two more than Highlanders who have lost only one match this year. They were beaten by lowly rated Monomotapa in Harare.
Premier soccer league matches have been suspended due to the national team’s Africa Cup of Nations game against the Black Panthers of Angola.
