FC Platinum’s Money Bags have emerged as the strongest challengers for the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title.

After 21 games and with nine matches remaining, the Money Bags have moved into third place, just five points behind leaders Chicken Inn.

This follows Sunday’s 1-0 crucial away win over another title contender, Triangle, which puts them just one point behind second-placed Dynamos.

Norman Mapeza’s side have now gone for 12 matches without losing and are looking forward to their most crucial matches in the season against both the Game Cocks and Dembare.

Should Mapeza’s side win the two games and Chicken Inn and Dynamos cancel each other in their next game, the Money Bags will go top of the table.

Looking at the current log standings, fifth-placed How Mine coach Luke Masomere predicts that FC Platinum will end Dynamos’ reign as the champions of Zimbabwean football.

However, those who follow Dynamos beg to differ.

Dembare coach Tonderai Ndiraya believes his team will be crowned the Zimbabwe champions after his team’s 1-0 win over How Mine, which has pushed them into second place, overtaking Triangle.

However, Masomere thinks his team was unlucky after conceding a last-minute goal from Dynamos talisman, Ronald Chitiyo.

At the same time, Chicken Inn maintained their position at the top of the standings after a hard fought 3-2 victory over neighbors Highlanders.

The goal that brought celebration to the Game Cocks was the one that separated the two teams and came from Mitchell Katsvairo in the 90th minute

The other matches ended as follows: Chapungu 2, Caps United 1; Hwange 1, Harare City 0; ZPC Kariba 2, Hwahwa 1; Buffaloes 2, Flame Lilly 0; Dongo 2, Tsholotsho 0.

At the end of week 21, the top four teams are Chicken Inn with 43 points, Dynamos (39), FC Platinum (38) and Triangle (36).

The bottom four are Flame Lilly 18 points, Tsholotsho (18), Whawha (18) and Dongo FC (17).

There will be no Castle Lager Premier Soccer League matches over this coming weekend.

Instead, the fans will be rallying behind the Warriors as Zimbabwe plays Guinea in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

VOA Studo 7 has been informed that the match has been moved from the National Sports Stadiums to Rufaro Stadium.
