Highlanders CEO: Coach Bongani Mafu Has Not Been Fired

Highlanders coach Bongani Mafu signed a one-year contract with Highlanders Football Club.

Highlanders Football Club have dismissed reports that soccer coach, Bongani Mafu, has been fired as fans continue mourning the passing of Zimbabwean soccer legend Willard Mashinkila-Khumalo.

Bosso chief executive, Ndumiso Gumede, told Studio 7 reports circulating in state-controlled newspapers and social media that Mafu, whose team fell to lowly-rated Hwahwa Football Club at the weekend after another recent loss recently, was sent home Tuesday are misleading.

Gumede said the club’s executive committee, which met Monday, did not even discuss this issue.
