Zimbabwe's organizing committee of the African Union Sports Council Region 5 Under-20 Youth Games says it is putting final touches to preparations for the games, which will be held in Bulawayo in December this year.
President Robert Mugabe lit a torch in Harare last week, in recognition of the games.
The games on offer include football, netball, basketball, tennis, boxing, judo, swimming and athletics.
Countries under the Region 5 banner, which are expected to attend, are Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, and Zambia. However, additional five countries have been invited. They are the Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania, Madagascar, Mauritius, and Seychelles.
The local organizing committee’s marketting director, Kenneddy Ndebele, said various sub-committees are putting all the logistics in place, to make the games a success.
