Coventry's Latest Gold & Record Invigorate Zimbabwe's Aspiring Swimmers

Zimbabwe's swimmers took encouragement from the latest gold medal claimed by Olympic swimmer Kirsty Coventry in the 200 meters backstroke this weekend at the World Swimming Championships in Rome, beating her previous Beijing Olympics record time.

Coventry swam the distance in 2:04:81 compared with her best performance of 2:05:24 in last year's Beijing Summer Olympics.

Glenda Heard, secretary of the Zimbabwe Swimming Board Of Control, told reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye of VOA's Studio 7 for Zimbabwe that Coventry's latest victory will inspire young Zimbabwean swimmers coming up in the sport.
